Rangers FC-Dundee United. Previews. Ibrox Park.

El manager de Rangers, Walter Smith enfrenta una crisis de lesiones por lo que tendrá que enfrentar con promesas el sabado al Dundee United en Ibrox por la Premier League. Steven Davis, Kyle Lafferty, David Healy, Madjid Bougherra y Vladimir Weiss estarán un tiempo fuera por varios golpes. El préstamo de Kyle Bartley terminó y volverá al Arsenal con un daño en los ligamentos, mientras que las bajas de Lee McCulloch y Kirk Broadfoot todavía no están en condiciones. On-loan Kyle Bartley has returned to Arsenal after his season was ended with ligament damage, while long-term casualties Lee McCulloch and Kirk Broadfoot are still short of fitness. It means Smith could be without nearly half the team that won the League Cup against Celtic a fortnight ago.

Bougherra is set to miss matches with Dundee United, St Johnstone and Hamilton with the problem suffered in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final win over Celtic. Bougherra admits the injury was worse than he initially feared, but he hopes to back in action in three weeks.

Weiss hasn't recovered from a lingering foot injury and doctors have ordered the Slovakian to rest for at least one more week. Northern Ireland duo Lafferty and Healy are also major doubts after returning injured from international duty. With Bougherra out for a further two weeks and Bartley back at Arsenal undergoing rehab for the rest of the season, utility man Steven Whittaker could emerge as a key figure in the championship race. However, the Gers coach has been able to utilise the talents of several of his youth team, with Kyle Hutton, Gregg Wylde and Jamie Ness all being given their chance in the first team this season. Rangers are two points behind Celtic having played a game less, face playing six games in 17 days.

The Ibrox Disaster

Derek Parlane, Born is the King of Ibrox Park

"Born is the King of Ibrox Park", cantaron las legiones de Light Blue sobre Derek Parlane, ídolo en los años 70, portando el jersey número 9 de los Gers. Derek Parlane (5 de mayo 1953 en Helensburgh) desde 1970 a 1980 se debió al color azul (hasta partir al Leeds United). En 300 partidos, marcó 111 goles. Ganó dos campeonatos, 3 Copas de Escocia, 2 Copas Scottish League y 1 Recopa de Europa. En 2010, fue incluido en el Hall of Fame del Glasgow Rangers. Parlane hizo su estreno en 1970 a la joven edad de 17, pero dos años más tarde fue artífice del gran triunfo europeo en la Recopa, al derrotar en semifinales al todopoderoso Bayern Munich 2-0. Bill Struth

Ibrox Disaster

Ocurrió el 2 de enero de 1971 en el final de un Old Firm. Más de 100.000 aficionados cayeron al suelo. Después de 89 minutos de fútbol sin goles el Celtic tomó una ventaja de 0-1 y algunos seguidores del Rangers comenzaron a abandonar el estadio. Sin embargo, en los momentos finales del partido, Colin Stein anotó el empate para los Rangers. Mientras miles de espectadores cayeron al suelo por la escalera 13, parece que alguien, posiblemente llevando a un niño en los hombros, cayó, causando una cadena masiva de amontonamiento de personas
