Season over for Bartley

Kyle Bartley last night confirmed his season IS over - as he bid an emotional farewell to Rangers. The on-loan Arsenal kid suffered a ruptured medial ligament against PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League last 16 meeting. It heartbreakingly cost the defender a chance to be part of Rangers' League Cup Final win over Celtic three days later.

Bartley - whose Ibrox deal was until the summer - told: "Everyone at Rangers has been brilliant and I can only say a massive thank you."It was hard to sit in the stand for the League Cup Final and think about what might've been."But I was thrilled for the management and the players that we beat Celtic. It was well deserved."I have also greatly appreciated the messages of support from the fans.

"I couldn't have wished for a better club for a loan spell."I've been told I've got a grade three medial ligament tear and I'm looking at three months out."As things stand I've played my last game for Rangers. I wasn't there too long but I've still got plenty of good memories."Who knows what next season will bring. Once I'm fit again I'll find out what Arsenal have planned for me."

Rangers1 Hibernian 0. Scottish Youth Cup Semi-Final

Chris Hegarty sent Rangers into their fifth Scottish Youth Cup final after a game they could have won more comfortably. Hibs threatened on occasion but Rangers had the better chances with Kal Naismith. The Northern Irish defender, Hegarty, is the under-19 team’s only ever-present this season and admitted that his mates have a league and cup double on their minds. Rangers won the trophy in 2007 and 2008 with victories of Celtic in both finals. Rangers did enough to set up a Hampden final against Celtic.

Rangers 2-1 Celtic. CIS Cup Final

Nikica Jelavic's extra-time winner gave Rangers victory over Celtic in a dramatic Co-operative Insurance Cup final at Hampden. In a pulsating match played in the right spirit, Steve Davis gave the Ibrox side the lead in the 23rd minute before Joe Ledley levelled on the half-hour mark.
Three penalty claims - two for Rangers - were ignored by referee Craig Thomson before Jelavic struck seven minutes in to extra-time. In the dying seconds, Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre was shown a straight red for denying Ibrox substitute Vladimir Weiss a clear goalscoring opportunity but the game will be remembered for the right reasons.
Walter Smith made two changes as he replaced the injured pair of Ricky Foster and Kyle Bartley with Nikica Jelavic and Steven Naismith as Rangers looked to create more chances, with the two coming in playing up front for the Ibrox men.
The final started off as the majority of Old Firm games do, at full speed, with both sides playing at a frantic pace as they looked to gain bragging rights while also hoping to claim the first silverware of the season.
