Rangers 3-0 Airdrie. Fuerza Fernando!!!

Second minute: Fans stand, come the applauses, the ovation, some top flames with your name on the back. That moment generating goosebumps. Previously had sounded the theme Fernando of Abba. The Diamonds gave the impression of being unprepared nor to defend certain fundamental concepts in modern football nor to bear three quick touches of The Light Blues. Minuto dos. Los fans se ponen de pie, surgen los aplausos, la ovación, alguna camiseta flamea con su nombre en la espalda. Ese momento que genera piel de gallina. Previamente había sonado el tema Fernando de Abba.  Una demostración más de esa solidaridad característica, sin escudriñar en el color de camiseta, los fans del Rangers siempre estamos ahí. El dolor de Fernando, el dolor de todos nosotros. Fuerza Fernando!!

En el primer tiempo, el Rangers cedió ante la tentación de los automatismos, un poco reiterativo en su juego al pie, hizo una ocupación racional de terreno, aunque en determinadas ocasiones, quedan encerrados en parcelas. No había precisión.  Había algo de displicencia. La superioridad escénica fue tan incuestionable como ineficaz en los primeros 45 minutos. Faltaba puntería en los últimos metros para no tener que sufrir cierta incertidumbre, que enturbia cualquier ambiente.

Law, un fino espadachín ante toscos guerreros, comenzó a combinar, a buscar asociaciones, triangulaciones y apoyos en corto. Es capaz de llenar el partido más aburrido con cualquiera de sus gestos técnicos. Yo creo que una de las diferencias respecto de los partidos precedentes es que Law tuvo una mayor libertad de movimientos, lo que no significa renunciar a un compromiso con el juego colectivo. En esta libertad (¿condicional?) colaboró la presencia de Hutton, un jugador de una inteligencia táctica impecable. Vigila los movimientos del rival en la antesala del área y ese olfato para husmear la siguiente jugada, propia y ajena. Y es decisivo para frenar, contener y algunas veces ahogar al rival.

Después de meses de inactividad, Hutton no perdió el físico, el sentido del espacio y ese porte de experiencia, siendo joven, son imperecederos y acumulativos. Su regreso es una gran noticia para el equipo y, fundamentalmente, para Law. Nunca se sabe por dónde va a aparecer el inglés. Tuvo ingenio en la periferia del área. Tiene ese rigor táctico combinado con la anarquía, un proceso creativo único.  Elige bien y rápido cuando interpreta el juego; permite que brillen sus mejores compañeros y corrige a los que están mal; y, además, combate al adversario.

The Diamonds dieron la impresión de no estar preparados ni para defender ciertos conceptos fundamentales en el fútbol moderno ni para soportar tres toques rápidos de los Light Blues. Con el campo por delante, Wallace tenía la pelota controlada (sino tenía a McLeod como rueda de auxilio) y toda su potencia enfocada en pisar el área. Un ataque que empezó a motorizar a la altura del centro del campo.

A pesar de la hiperactividad positiva,  Rangers no encontraba ni un resquicio, la pelota circulaba de izquierda a derecha (y a la inversa) la búsqueda de perforar.  Dado que la falta de imaginación, o la suerte, no proporcionaba otra salida. La decisión era buscar a Foster, preparado para tirar un centro al área. Las estadísticas en el fútbol suelen explicar ciertas costumbres en el juego de un equipo, por más que se queden en números y hay muchos malintencionados que los manipulen. Este fue el caso del Rangers, que, a tenor de lo que se reflejó en el partido del viernes (y en los anteriores también), fue el equipo que más centros realizó. Nuestros muchachos, entonces, son un aspersor desde le costado a la hora de sacar centros y ese detalle recobró espacial protagonismo de Foster y Peralta. Un dato que delata la proyección ofensiva de ambos, aspecto importante en la pizarra del staff técnico.

¿El juego aéreo como un arma de desequilibrio? La facilidad para el centro se transformó en una eficacia para la utilización del remate de cabeza de Daly. Así y todo en nuestra manera de atacar intervienen con más frecuencia jugadores más cómodos en el trato por bajo de la pelota. Esto hace que nadie sepa por dónde asomarán los mediocampistas, por dónde clavaremos el aguijón y envenenaremos al contrario. Si no era Law, era McLeod, Wallace, Peralta, Hutton. Había incontables opciones.

Peralta sabe proteger la pelota, acomodar el cuerpo para recibir una falta que derive en una pelota parada favorable.  Con Peralta entre los once iniciales estaba claro que las jugadas a pelota parada tenían que convertirse de inmediato en una fortaleza, en un valor agregado más. La pelota parada tiene cuatro fases, la primera es encontrar el lanzador, Peralta es el indicado. El segundo paso consiste en asignarle al encargado de centrar el lugar específico donde colocar la pelota, independientemente de la posición de nuestros jugadores, y eso el hondureño lo hace con facilidad. El tercero es la sincronización, para que los atacantes o defensores como Jig y Moshni alcancen la pelota en el momento justo, ni antes, ni después. Y, por último, la cuarta fase es el espacio. Cada jugador tiene determinado un lugar hacia dónde dirigirse y esos los convierte en productivos dentro del área.

Más allá de las estrategias puntuales que exige cada partido (el Rangers en estas temporadas enfrenta equipos que se agolpan atrás), en general, los lanzadores de falta buscan que los centros vayan bien colocados para aprovecha la anticipación y la fortaleza de los jugadores, especialmente los defensores. Ese fue el caso en el segundo tiempo, que tras un centro de Peralta, the Skipper cabeceó cerca.

Peralta se corrió más al medio para que Foster pudiera tener el camino libre e instalarse definitivamente más adelante. Desde mi punto de vista, el hondureño no es del todo profundo, y cuando encara hacia el arco, le falta un poco de determinación para terminar la jugada. En el primer tiempo, él tuvo una posibilidad pero fue absorbida por el defensor.

Airdrie era fútbol roto, adusto y antipático. Fue curioso lo de este equipo, que en muchos momentos se defendió ligero de ropa, pero cuando se mudó al ataque no supo qué hacer. Incapaz de dar ni un simple arañazo.  El fútbol nunca ha sido cartesiano y nosotros hurgamos en todos los cajones del gol.

Daly, el hombre que mejor aprovecha su ventaja física, de estampa imponente y cintura acartonada. Con su enorme sonrisa en su rostro. No es la clase de delanteros centros estáticos, ayuda al juego de equipo y se posiciona en el terreno, al espacio, para definir mejor una jugada como en el primer gol. Parece que no tiene ninguna relevancia, pero ahí está siempre. Hace goles de todas las formas posibles. Daly ha sido una incógnita al principio de la temporada (afortunadamente superada), un objeto de debate entre sus ortodoxos (grande, alto, cabeceador) y sus heterodoxos (juega mejor con el pie, asiste casi igual que remata).

El gol fue de Daly, pero el trabajo de recuperación de la pelota lo hizo Law, que no se quedó parado, sino que siguió al rival hasta quitarle la pelota. Un trabajo que no suele ser visto o es minimizado. Hasta en ese detalle (significativo para mi) se puede ver su decisiva aportación. Cedió la pelota a Peralta, que automáticamente envió un centro al corazón del área. McLeod no pudo cabecear bien, la pelota siguió de largo, ahí, estaba Daly, controló y colocó en el palo. 1-0.

Casi calcado, traslado de la pelota de Law, posicionamiento de Foster, que para no ser menos, envía un centro al área.  Airdrie, ya alérgicos a meter las narices en las jugadas aéreas,  miran atónitos como Daly se les filtra por el medio y anota de cabeza, tras la desarmada salida del arquero. 2-0. Unas palabras más sobre Daly, los defensores deben estar muy atentos, muy encima de él, porque es constante. Ellos sienten que ha desaparecido pero ellos tienen que tener cuidado porque vuelve cuando menos lo esperan. Siempre está atento a lo que pasa en el partido. Y ojo: no es el típico atacante pendenciero, como Kevin Kyle, que provoca a todo el mundo. Él está callado y se dedica a jugar.

El tercer gol que decoró el resultado final,  tuvo a Law, protegiendo la pelota y avanzando, desbordando y tirando un centro atrás para Templeton, simple. 3-0.
