Rangers1 Hibernian 0. Scottish Youth Cup Semi-Final

Chris Hegarty llevó al Rangers a su quinta final de la Scottish Youth Cup después de un partido que podría haber ganado con mayor comodidad. Los Hibs amenazaron en alguna ocasión, pero Rangers tuvo las mejores oportunidades con Kal Naismith. Chris Hegarty sent Rangers into their fifth Scottish Youth Cup final after a game they could have won more comfortably. Hibs threatened on occasion but Rangers had the better chances with Kal Naismith. The Northern Irish defender, Hegarty, is the under-19 team’s only ever-present this season and admitted that his mates have a league and cup double on their minds. Rangers won the trophy in 2007 and 2008 with victories of Celtic in both finals. Rangers did enough to set up a Hampden final against Celtic.

The Ibrox Disaster

New Year Bells had been ringing,
All of Scotland was singing,
The old year had died,

Derek Parlane, Born is the King of Ibrox Park

"Born is the King of Ibrox Park", cantaron las legiones de Light Blue sobre Derek Parlane, ídolo en los años 70, portando el jersey número 9 de los Gers. Derek Parlane (5 de mayo 1953 en Helensburgh) desde 1970 a 1980 se debió al color azul (hasta partir al Leeds United). En 300 partidos, marcó 111 goles. Ganó dos campeonatos, 3 Copas de Escocia, 2 Copas Scottish League y 1 Recopa de Europa. En 2010, fue incluido en el Hall of Fame del Glasgow Rangers. Parlane hizo su estreno en 1970 a la joven edad de 17, pero dos años más tarde fue artífice del gran triunfo europeo en la Recopa, al derrotar en semifinales al todopoderoso Bayern Munich 2-0. Bill Struth

Bill Struth (1875-1956) fue el segundo manager de la historia del Rangers Football Club, conduciendo al club durante 34 años entre 1920 y 1954, así como otros puestos en el club, incluyendo el rol de director. Ibrox Disaster

Ocurrió el 2 de enero de 1971 en el final de un Old Firm. Más de 100.000 aficionados cayeron al suelo. Después de 89 minutos de fútbol sin goles el Celtic tomó una ventaja de 0-1 y algunos seguidores del Rangers comenzaron a abandonar el estadio. Sin embargo, en los momentos finales del partido, Colin Stein anotó el empate para los Rangers. Mientras miles de espectadores cayeron al suelo por la escalera 13, parece que alguien, posiblemente llevando a un niño en los hombros, cayó, causando una cadena masiva de amontonamiento de personas
