Rangers defender Sasa Papac has signed a new one-year contract extension, the Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions have announced. The 31-year-old left-back's current deal was due to expire this summer, but now he will be part of the new regime under Ally McCoist, Smith's successor as boss, and new owner Craig Whyte.
Veteran defender David Weir has confirmed he intends to carry on playing next season even if he is not offered a new contract at Rangers. Weir, who turned 41 last week, has been a virtual ever-present for Gers this season during the club's successful defence of the SPL title.
