Clyde 0-2 Rangers. Two strokes and the tarp

Until Sunday the staging of away matches was cruel, the play also evoked, at times, our poor versions. In several instances, we have a team capable of being deciphered and combated by others, have given occasion for lapses game. Football today is very tight and very precise. A bad move in a sensitive area is punished with a goal easily. Everything is unpredictable, fleeting and changeable. Clearly, any slip of mental concentration, elementary dear Watson, can lead to defeat. There was no place for another misstep. This time, no. Although enthusiasts prepared a trap for elephants in Broadwood, we finally prevailed. Broadwood was the theater of operations of a football match uncontrolled hyperactivity locked in a box filled with atoms. Two teams hitting the sixth gear engaged in pursuit of the ball. The difference? The qualities of individual game and some traces of collective game. After all, we alternated passages superb with reprehensible situations, manifest at intermediate stages of the same match.

The first surprise was the exclusion of Fraser Aird in the starting lineup. I asked angrily, who´s going to play there? We renounced his attack speed and persistence. But no, the writer of these lines must give credit to the coaching staff. Complementing Shiels with Wallace was important. Shiels parked on the left, to let in Wallace with its long strides, and then give the ball. There was room to start the play. For practical reasons, Lee Wallace has a knack for the overflow. And our team knows how to use his talent. The absence of Aird could have promoted greater rise of Wallace. But it would be ridiculous to deny the fruitful contribution of Canadian.

Very together, Clyde defended without hesitation and, occasionally, let loose an approximation, if necessary, in the direction of Alexander. Sometimes they were played more laborious and, at the same time, more difficult to defend for us.

On the right side of our defense, we had the first frights (though not unique). Stuart McColm left behind Hegarty and gave a pass to Stefan McCluskey, but Alexander, providential, broke the connection. Since a loss of the ball or neglect in the hot zone has recently condemned, I must warm that we doubt a lot on defense. I see no guarantee there. Everyone will say that this is nothing new. Two players should not make a single player, that´s basic. I watched that and more gray hair since I went! From my point of view, the defensive problems are clear, but starting in the middle of the field.

In the first half, we were imprecise in executing some plays in midfield, with individual errors and synchronization in the withdrawal and defend the own field. Ian Black ran everywhere, advance was pressing at the start of rivals, gave accurate passes. Anticipating plays and winning balls. The tenacity is one of its bases, always playing limit, so risky.

Meanwhile, Hutton played in front of the defense, contained, albeit very delayed for my taste, excessively. No offensive gravitated. He moved the ball with some laziness and sometimes playing back to goal otherwise. This contrariety, one product is to know why, change in the second stuff, a time when Hutton was ahead in the field and enabled his teammates. The front highway was clear to Hutton progressed without hesitation. I differentiate two stages: the first is the offensive attitude of our midfield, Black, on the right, partnering with McLeod to empower Little and Jig. And second, defensively, midfield called for greater engagement of Hutton, really just to resist the attacks rivals. For me, this lack of balance in addition to our defensive errors (read for that: distractions, bad positioning and lack of continuity in the individual markings) often conspire with our overall performance. One clarification, McLeod has combined, in recent games, sudden and unproductive disappearances with millimeter precision passes to feed our offense.

The team plays well matured, came to bow and generated enough chances to sing the goal. By generating hollows, to break waists, shooting positions to win, the first half hour of Andrew Little was remarkable. After pressing an opponent to get the ball -a cherished value in modern football- the Ulsterman won and immediately threw center to Jig that sent the ball over the crossbar. Thereafter, Little, insatiable and tireless had to score two consecutive occasions, the first denied by the keeper and the second was near the bottom. With much physical deployment, even allowing for the recovery of his injury, Andrew lowered to cooperate with Hegarty in a space whose flaws I do not interpret clearly. I must say that my intention is not to apportion blame, but dig inside of some of these problems can be solved.

On one hand, there was a space uncovered that led to the attacks of the Bully Wee and its concomitant crosses into the box. That gap could be attributable to the distribution in the midfield, which would result in the responsibility of Little. I do not think are as well. In football there are defined roles but the performances are not linear, not attributable to a single charge.

The best script needs sometimes resource surprised to be nice and not by chance. The golazo by Shiels has naturally audacity granting the talent. It is the expression of such a goal is scored, the position of the body, the ability to give effect to the ball and the decision to send the ball into the farthest place. For their precision and beauty, looks like the brushstrokes of artists as Lorney Wilson on the canvas. 1-0.

Not change the landscape of the game in the restart of play. Some are used to defend and others attack. The expulsion of John Neill at 67 minutes favored maintaining possession of the ball. Shrewd, McCoist reinterpreted times requiring outcomes and put in the field to Barrie McKay, more prepared to carry the ball (the best way to maintain control of the ball is moving it, secure it) to feinting and cause imbalances.

Jig´s presence in the area, with their insight and careful cunning, drugged up to the toughest defenses. The skipper shows every weekend to his repertoire of moves in the area is still updated. The interesting thing is that Jig is not afraid to be in the overpopulated areas in the third division, far from conventionality football. In this world of guys with hard fame, vandals unpunished and ductile little footballers, he is most able to break defenses closed. A few days ago, I read an article in The Herald written brilliantly by Richard Wilson, who did a chest x- Lee McCulloch, and I´m going to stay on time with the characterization of "streetwise nature" and "sheer ruggedness". Running 80 minutes, Hegarty, from the right, threw a center, past the area, at the fat post, Black appeared in the open and gave the ball to Jig for lower the curtain. 2-0.

In boxing count more errors than hits, do not know who said. Probably, in life and football too. But The Rangers knocked out Clyde in the first round thanks to a late lesson learned: not the goal was enough to give by Shiels won the match, had to score at least one more. With a cold blow from which few boxers rising from the tarp. Finally we won away. Hopefully we learn to correct our mistakes.

Spanish version.

Yo preguntaba aireadamente, ¿quién va a jugar allí?

Yo no veo garantía alguna allí.

Ojalá hayamos aprendido a corregir nuestros errores.
